Notes on the 2007 Brewer Clifton Pinot Noir, Mount Carmel Vineyard 95+ Points $77.95 12 Bottle Limit : WINE ADVOCATE REVIEW: 95+ POINTS The 2007 Pinot Noir Mount Carmel cuts a stylistic path between the rich, fruit-driven Melville and the more earthy, barnyardy, terroir-driven Clos Pepe. The Mount Carmel offers plenty of blue and red fruits intermixed with hints of smoke, roasted herbs, earth, pomegranate, and underbrush. The sweetness of the tannins, beautiful full-bodied mouthfeel, and good acidity all reflect another brilliant Pinot Noir from this exceptionally talented duo. It should drink well for 10-15 years.

NVWE NOTES: Youthful, clearly gutsy and decidedly savory, the aromas of this dramatic Pinot are a flashy mix of dark cherry and red berry, with visible undercurrents of earth and layers of tobacconist-shop spices to sweeten the mix. It is palate-coating rich and almost grapey in its youth, yet its luxurious texture and dramatic savory/herbal complexities already elevate it far above the norm. The finish is a lingering cascade of deep berry-cherry fruit, forest earth, dried herbs, toast, tobacco and other evolving spice elements. Ultra-long and superb already, it should be nothing less than magnificent in 3-5 years.
