NVWE NOTES: This is a skillfully blended and beautifully focused California “Chateauneuf du Pape”. Its aromas of red raspberries, boysenberries, sweet red plums, yellow rose, pink peppercorn, powdered sumac and roasted grain offer richness, vibrant zest and impressive complexity. The wines density, sinewy mouthfeel and some tannic firmness join to further enhance its “chiseled” impression and the fruit, if clearly youthful, lingers beautifully and never strays out of balance or shows a hint of roughness. A superb companion to Prime Rib, roast lamb and Mediterranean cuisine in general, it will get even better over the next three years or so. A blend of 38% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 22% Grenache, 7% Counoise & 5% Cinsault. 1141 cases produced. WINEMAKER NOTES: The wine is perky with distinctive peppery flavors which enhance the succulent ripe plum mid palate leading to a vibrant flash bulb finish of pomegranate and blackberry fruitiness with lingering hints of sweet tobacco leaf. Exciting to enjoy in its immediacy, patient imbibers will be rewarded as the wine melds into a seamless garment of flavors. Drink now or hold through 2014.
