Notes on the Benziger Tribute Red Table Wine Sonoma Mountain 2005 : NVWE NOTES: The nose of this distinctive Cabernet is, as in the past, both exotic and expressively rich, as sweet chocolate-covered cherry and dark plum scents join tobacco leaf, vanilla, cedar, eucalyptus and forest bark notes in a luxurious melange. Things are every bit as rich on the palate, where cherry, plum and berry notes integrate perfectly with savory overlays of eucalyptus, laurel, tobacco and sweet vanilla. The finish is long and the texture palate-coating, although the wine is stiffened a bit by tannin at the end. Expect this one to grow grander and ever more complex over the next four to five years or more, but don't be afraid to enjoy it now with grilled herb-crusted lamb chops or a rich beef roast.
