Issue: Nov 15, 2010 JL WINE ADVOCATE REVIEW: 94 POINTS The obsession with all things French continues with the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc). Revealing a similar dark ruby/purple color, it possesses lots of camphor, cassis, black cherry and licorice aromas as well as a full-bodied, impressively endowed, concentrated style with abundant texture. These are both serious wines to drink over the next 10-15 years NVWE NOTES: This rich and beautifully focused Cabernet marries deep cherry and pomegranate syrup-like fruit scents to rich vanilla, baking spice and forest earth notes. On the palate the wine is densely packed and surprisingly elegant despite its almost sweet level of ripeness and rich texture. The cherry-pomegranate notes are the main theme at the mid-palate, always just a notch above the savory elements, and they hold their dominance through a long satisfying finish. This is a surprisingly attractive dinner wine already, one that effectively suppresses its tannins beneath its fruit, but it should be expected to get significantly better over the next three or four years. 500 cases produced.
