NVWE NOTES: Very elegant, attractively oak-accented and outright pretty, this wine offers aromas of Amarena cherry, blueberry, whortleberry, red plum, coriander, sumac berry and hints of tobacconist-shop spice. The texture is at once suave, palate-coating and quietly zesty, although the mid-palate fruit is subdued just a hint at this stage by oak. The finish is lingering and pretty, despite some youthful tannin and the slightly aggressive oak. Certainly a delicious dinner wine right now, it will be significantly more complex and lovely if given 12-24 months of cellar-time in which to fully express its sweet fruit and ballerina-like elegance. 151 cases produced. WINEMAKER NOTES: The wine is a combination of the Pommard 5 and Wadenswil 2A clones. The latter comprises two-thirds of the blend and contributes red fruits and floral elements while the Pommard brings darker fruit and adds weight to the mid-palate. The combination results in an elegant wine with the aforementioned aromatics coupled with flavors of ripe cherry and strawberry that coat the palate, while the wine’s bright acidity lingers on the finish. This unfined and unfiltered wine shows well now and will benefit from a few more years in the bottle.
