Notes on the Kenneth Volk Chardonnay Bien Nacido Q Block Santa Maria Valley 2004 : NVWE NOTES: Very rich, but decidedly graceful in style, the nose of this impressive Chardonnay offers scents of ripe apple, melon, golden fig and vanilla cream, with subtle mineral hints underneath. Plush, lingering and delicious, the flavors follow the aromas beautifully, with fig, apple and mineral notes counter-pointed by deep vanilla and caramel. Polished enough to hide any youthful rough edges, it will yet improve for another few years and will prove grander than many more expensive bottlings. 402 cases produced.

WINEMAKER NOTES: This full-bodied Chardonnay has aromas of toasted grains, sliced apple and wet slate. On the palate, the wine is creamy and full volume with a flinty minerality. The low pH and high natural acidity help this wine finish crisply. This unctuous wine may be enjoyed with dishes where a higher acidity wine could serve as a foil to reduction sauces.
