WINE ADVOCATE REVIEW: 89-91 POINTS The limited production 2008 Pinot Noirs are slightly leaner and less intense than the 2007s. (Not yet released) This is a brilliant portfolio of wines from Frenchman Luc Morlet. Production for these cuvees ranges from a low of 75 cases for several of the Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, to a high of 660 cases for the Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc/Muscadelle blend called La Proportion Doree. Only indigenous yeasts are used in the fermentations as well as 100% French oak barrels, there is no fining or filtration, and all the wines are made with a hand-crafted zeal for high quality. Wine Advocate # 187 (Feb 2010) Robert Parker NVWE NOTES: This is a youthfully fruity, but extremely complex Pinot, with aromas of boysenberry, red raspberry, coriander seed, dried red rose, hunters broth, caramel, minerals and hints of blood orange. The fruit stays in the forefront, but shifts toward amarena cherry-boysenberry on the palate, while roasted grain, coriander, powdered sumac, pink peppercorn and mineral notes run just a step behind. At the finish, the wines slightly masculine posture turns wonderfully elegant and the fruity-floral-savory-woodsy notes find a lovely balance and then linger brilliantly. This is a superb Pinot that will be even more so in another three years. Its tannins do not intrude on the pleasures the wine already offers in abundance. 150 cases produced.
