Sleek, rich and intense, this beautifully balanced red offers a complex mix of black currant and black cherry, red and black licorice. Firm, focused, expansive and layered, ending with classic Bordeaux-like cedar, tobacco and cigar box notes. Drink now through 2020. 1,684 cases made. –JL

2007 COHO HEADWATERS NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON BLEND

Firm, rich and vibrant, this is intense, focused, concentrated and persistent, with a taut band of dried currant, mineral, plum and spice, gaining depth and complexity while maintaining a presence of balance and finesse. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2018. 1,667 cases made. –JL

2007 ROBERT CRAIG "AFFINITY" CABERNET SAUVIGNON BLEND
Wine Advocate 96 pts. 
The 2007 Affinity exhibits more graphite, but in essence is similarly elegant, with supple tannins (although more velvety than in the 2006), very young, primary black and blue fruit notes, and superb concentration, texture, and length. This is an exceptionally promising wine that is still hiding behind a rather primary display of fruit. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the next 15 or possibly 20 years.

2007 JANZEN BECKSTOFFER TO KALON NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Janzen’s other 2007s were still in barrel, but readers should keep an eye out for the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard. Offering abundant aromas of creme de cassis, licorice, and smoked herbs as well as admirable density, opulence, and richness, it has 20 years of drinkability ahead of it. 

2007 KOBALT NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON 
Wine Spectator 95 pts 
Tightly wound, firm and complex, offering a mix of cedar, loamy earth, dried currant and blackberry flavors, with touches of black licorice, mineral and sage. Full-bodied, ending with ripe, chewy tannins that reverberate on the finish. Best from 2012 through 2022. 680 cases made. –JL

Firm, rich, intense and concentrated, with a layered mix of blackberry, currant, black licorice, spice, cedary oak and mineral notes. Full-bodied, well-structured and focused, ending with a long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2020. 1,700 cases made. –JL
