Notes on the Pelerin Wines Les Tournesol Santa Lucia Highlands Roussanne Blend 2006 : NVWE NOTES: Initially most notable for its tight, flinty minerality, the nose of this fascinating young wine gradually uncoils to reveal scents of honeysuckle, mango, lemon zest, Bosc pear, white pepper and traces of lavender and cereal grain. It is as bright and zesty in the mouth and stony-dry, if clearly rich, as its evolving flavors of Bosc pear, Meyer lemon zest, green apple, lychee and honeysuckle push their way toward equal status with the mineral undercurrents. The finish is as long as it is complex and dry, and the structure and balance mark it as both a likely cellaring candidate and as a perfect companion to sauced shellfish. Enjoy it now, or watch it evolve over the next three years. A single vineyard blend of 63% Roussanne, 27% Chardonnay and 10% Viognier. 171 cases produced.
