WINE ADVOCATE REVIEW: 93 POINTS The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (a 1,000+ case cuvee from five separate sites) is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (about 70% new French oak is used), and the consulting winemaker is Paul Hobbs. The 2007 exhibits a dense purple color as well as a beautiful bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, incense, licorice and pen ink. Full-bodied, concentrated and powerful, with silky tannins and an exuberant, flashy style, it should drink well for 10-15 years. This small, high quality boutique producer makes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Russian River area as well as some exceptionally fine Cabernet Sauvignon from various vineyards in Napa. WA # , #192 (Dec 2010) Drink 2010 - 2025 Robert Parker NVWE NOTES: Medium-bodied, but sweetly rich and wonderfully elegant, this is a textbook Paul Hobbs production from start to finish. The aromas are a suavely focused mix of sweet plums, pomegranate syrup, vanilla and baking spices, with hints of tobacco leaf. The texture is palate-coating and very supple, and it carries the wines mocha-cherry, plum, berry, vanilla, tobacco and spice flavors over a polished spine of tannin, through a lingering and extremely satisfying finish. This impressive blend of four Napa vineyards is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, yet it is silkier than most 2007 Meritages would be at this stage. It should yet improve for another few years. 1000 cases produced.
