Purchase Stolpman Estate Sauvignon Blanc Santa Ynez Valley 2008

NVWE NOTES: This is a focused and finely-balanced Sauvignon Blanc which has a hard mineral-edge to contrast its aromas of lime zest, melon and dried papaya. It is big in body, but cutting-dry on the palate, where the mineral notes again lead the way. The finish is crisp, lingering and full of citric notes that push the more subtle melon flavors rearward at this stage. Built for service with shellfish or sauced seafood entrees, it is almost French in character and minerality. 500 cases produced. WINEMAKER NOTES: This wine is fermented in the classic Loire fashion with 90% tank-fermentation and 10% barrel-fermentation with indigenous yeast. This sun kissed coloured wine has flavors of lemon, verbena, apricots, and not quite ripe Rainier cherries. The wine was kept on its fermentation lees until bottling to add a creaminess on the mid-palate. Enjoy pool side or with grilled lemon peel shrimp.
