FORTNIGHT CABERNET SAUVIGNON, CALIFORNIA 2016

NVWE Notes: Bright and softly elegant, the aromas of this pretty Cab center on sour red cherry, dark cherry, black fig, dark rose, date sugar, peppercorn and vanilla toffee. It is as supple and fresh as expected in the mouth, where sour cherry, black fig, cedar, date and baking-spice flavors create an easy-going, food-balanced, lingering package that should prove companionable with a wide variety of foods.

CIMA COLLINA PINOT NOIR, TONDRE'S GRAPEFIELD, SANTA LUCIA HIGHLANDS 2012

NVWE Notes: Well-evolved and immediately attractive, the bouquet of this Pinot Noir offers fruit scents of red plum, red currant, strawberry and raspberry cobbler tied to a complex savory perfume that includes notes of sandalwood, cardamom, sumac, clove, star anise, canela and a hint of oregano. It is round and supple on the palate, with a expressive and lingering marriage of fruity and savory flavors that finish dry and dinner-worthy. It is ready to enjoy.

FIDDLETOWN CELLARS ZINFANDEL "OLD VINE", AMADOR COUNTY SIERRA FOOTHILLS 2015

NVWE Notes: This tasty Zin is notably Amador in style and character and it’s built for food service. The aromas meld notes of sour red cherry, red currant, raspberry, strawberry, rose, cedar, licorice root, clove, pink peppercorn and iron ore into a forthcoming package. It is focused and racy on the palate, where dried red currant and dried black cherry join the fresh fruit flavors and savory spice while strong minerality and some firming tannin team to slim-down the mouth-feel. It finishes with a bright push of red cherry and berry. Blended with 7% Alicante Bouschet.

CLOISONNÉ SAUVIGNON BLANC, NAPA VALLEY 2016

NVWE Notes: Bright and intensely varietal, the aromas of this Sauvignon Blanc push-forth as a pretty mix of pink grapefruit, passion fruit, Fuji apple, guava, lemongrass, rye seed, coriander seed, and white pepper. It is zesty and forthcoming in the mouth, with flavors that closely replicate the nose, but with a bit a fuller expression of the tropical fruit, pepper and herbal spice notes. Finishing crisp and clean, it will be a good match to flavorful fish and fowl entrees.

WELLINGTON CHARDONNAY, SONOMA COUNTY 2013

NVWE Notes: This is a nicely evolved Chardonnay with lots of flavor. The aromas are a quietly creamy meld of baked apple, lemon blossom, honeysuckle and vanilla-caramel scents. It is softly rich on the palate, with flavors of caramel-dipped apple, peach tart, vanilla, baking spices and honey, which linger nicely. It is well poised for service with baked fish or chicken.

BONNY DOON PICPOUL, BEESWAX VINEYARD, ARROYO SECO 2016

NVWE Notes: This is an “easy drinking” wine, but also a surprisingly complex one. The nose is a bright panorama of intriguing scents: including Fuji apple, kumquat, green melon rind, Persian raisin, white rose, lemon blossom, honeysuckle, white pepper and brioche. It is soft-edged yet lively in the mouth, where notes of honey and chalky minerality join lingering flavors that mirror the aromas in both depth and freshness. It’s combination of fruit intensity and gentility will make it attractive with a wide variety of foods. 100% Picpoul.
