NVWE Notes: This delicious Cabernet is darkly ripe, juicy and thoroughly “Paso Robles” in it’s aromatic mix of black currant, mulberry, dark cherry, peppercorn, bacon fat, tobacco and dried herbal spice. On the palate the flavors take a shift toward the red zone however, as zesty red currant, red cherry jam and pomegranate notes join-in to trim down the opulence and upgrade the drinkability. The wine finishes generous and lingering, yet dinner-balanced. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the French Camp Vineyard.
NVWE Notes: Aromatically pretty, flavorful and generous, this Pinot is also “spot on” in representing it’s appellation. The aromas are a genteel perfume of bottled cherry, strawberry, pomegranate, purple plum, white pepper and chestnut scents. Cherry, strawberry, pink rose, sandalwood, pink and white peppercorn and toasted grain fan-out in focused elegance on the palate, where the texture is supple and the zest soft-edged enough to suggest this one as a perfect companion to holiday turkey.
NVWE Notes: If full of “rustic gutsiness”, this Rhone-inspired blend is equally full of aromatic depth and rich flavor and the result is a wine well equipped to handle winter’s richer entrees. The aromas and the flavors that follow are a juicy melange of sour cherry, red plum, pomegranate, black currant, dark boysenberry, pink and black peppercorn, bay leaf, dry red rose, leather, licorice root and dark foresty spice. The finish is firm and lingering and despite some tannic grip, the texture is supple. A blend of 53% Syrah, 31% Grenache and 16% Mourvedre.
NVWE Notes: Reflective of the tiny 2015 crop, this is a well-concentrated wine. The nose offers youthfully tight scents of golden fig, green melon, Persian raisin, lime candy, preserved lemon, white pepper and honey. Golden fig, bees wax, honeysuckle and melon dominate on the palate, with gooseberry, white pepper and preserved lemon in the background. The finish is rich and lingering, with gooseberry and Persian raisin hints creating a bit of contrast at the end. If likely to be even more generous and expressive in eighteen months or so, it will prove very tasty right now if served with roasted chicken or sauced fish.
NVWE Notes: Bright and impressively dense in concentration, this lovely Chardonnay layers white peach, golden fig, Fuji apple, preserved lemon, lime, orange blossom, toasty vanilla and a hint of white pepper to create a pretty aromatic display. In the mouth, rich flavors of white peach, baked green apple, pineapple core, vanilla caramel and baking-spice are deftly balanced by more piquant notes of peach pit, nut husk, lime zest, dried pineapple and white pepper. The finish carries all of those flavors and the fine balance is maintained through a long finish. This one is just the ticket for service with lemon-garlic roasted chicken.
NVWE Notes: With it’s gaudy display of fruit and spice, this wine is distinctive from start to finish. On the nose, floral suggestions of orange zest, jasmine, honeysuckle, mint, clove and white pepper are but the intro to richer notes of peach, Persian raisin, Asian pear, pineapple, lemon curd, tangerine, beeswax, nutmeg and vanilla wafer. Things are fuller, if a bit quieter on the palate, yet the flavor panorama is much the same, so the lingering finish, if fully dry and food-worthy, delivers a similar cornucopia of surprises. It should prove an intriguing companion to holiday turkey. A blend of 49% Viognier, 27% Roussanne, 15% Grenache Blanc & 9% Marsanne.
