NVWE Notes: Youthfully reserved, yet showing good richness, the nose of this easy-going Bordeaux-style blend offers dark cherry, dried cherry, dried red currant, dark berry, cola, dark rose and a hint of sweet baking spices. There is just a suggestion of tannic grip on the palate, but the flavors - a mix of sour cherry, dried red currant, Cassis, cedar, toffee and vanilla, with hints of dried sage and clove - submerge any rough edges, to linger through a fine, food-friendly finish.
NVWE Notes: The 2014 “Lady” is more classically food-friendly than was the ultra-rich 2013. The aromas are a focused mix of red and black cherry, red and black currant, black raspberry, red rose, cedar, toffee and peppercorn. It is medium-bodied and shows textbook ripeness on the palate, where the rich red and black fruits offered in the nose are repeated, then enhanced, by sweet-savory flavors of vanilla, clove, tobacco and licorice root. Ready to drink, it will be a versatile Cab, as handy for summer grilling as for winter roasting.
NVWE Notes: Offering classic Moon Mountain dark fruit, the nose of this Cabernet rolls-out scents of sweet purple plum, black raspberry, black currant, Italian Maraschino cherry, dark rose and sandalwood. It offers a leaner, gutsier character in the mouth, where undercurrents of tannin and minerality temper the opulence and tighten the finish a bit. The lasting memory however, is of juicy blackberries, blueberries and licorice root. If likely to be more complete next year, it is easy to enjoy already and should be at its best with grilled meats.
