ARGOT CABERNET SAUVIGNON "BORROWED JEWELS", SUGARLOAF VINEYARD, NAPA VALLEY 2013
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
The only Cabernet Sauvignon produced is the 2013 Borrowed Jewels from Sugarloaf Vineyard in Napa. This is a beauty, with ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit as well as hints of licorice, graphite and camphor. It is full-bodied, dense, inky and ideal for drinking now as well as over the next two decades.
NVWE Notes: If juicy ripe, this is also a richly savory Cabernet. The nose marries juicy-syrupy notes of black cherry, blackberry and Cassis with a complex sweet-savory melange that includes scents of licorice, dates, cedar, Kalamata olive and leather. The wine proves as rich and textured in the mouth as the aromas suggest, and it layers zesty, palate-coating flavors of black cherry, pomegranate syrup and Cassis above darkly savory underpinnings. The finish is lingering, richly oaky and tannic beneath all the the fruit, with attractive notes of mulling spices, licorice root and mocha coming in at the end. Years of steady growth lie ahead for this beefy bottling. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.150 cases made.
