BORJÓN BARBERA AMADOR COUNTY SIERRA FOOTHILLS 2012
NVWE Notes: Bright, spicy and fruit-driven, this is textbook Amador County Barbara. The nose blends black cherry, crab apple syrup, red boysenberry and mulling-spice scents, with pretty sumac berry and pink peppercorn notes, to create a rich, yet zesty impression. On the palate, flavors of cranberry relish, pink peppercorn, star anise and sandalwood rise above a richer core of zesty red fruits to create a lingering, extremely dinner-friendly mélange. The finish is zesty, quite dry and delicious without accompaniment, yet its grippy, almost sinewy feel at the end elevates it and clearly identifies it as food wine. 775 cases produced.
