COHO MERLOT MICHAEL BLACK VINEYARD COOMBSVILLE NAPA VALLEY 2012
NVWE Notes: Coho’s 2012 Michael Black is, as always, a gutsy and distinctive Merlot. The nose offers a darkly rich mix of black currant, blackberry, blueberry, dark cherry, violet, dark chocolate, briar, tobacco, licorice root, clove and cedar scents. Things are as full and juicy as expected on the palate, where already assertive Black currant, blackberry, black cherry and violet flavors are given an extra push by savory notes of dark earth, tobacco, leather, chocolate, cedar, clove, peppered beef and rooty spice. Lingering and “manly” all the way, it is delicious now and destined to improve for several more years. 417 6-packs produced.
