DRAGONETTE PINOT NOIR, RADIAN VINEYARD, STA. RITA HILLS 2014
NVWE Notes: This is a gorgeously feminine Pinot with bright fruit and distinctive spice in ideal proportion. The nose fans-out as a graceful yet penetrating marriage of Bing cherry, black cherry, bottled red cherry, teaberry, red boysenberry, Panetone fruits, brioche, sumac berry, pink peppercorn, anise, sandalwood and shaved-pencil scents. If on the palate the wine is firmed by fruit acidity, tannic grip and some chalk-graphite mineral notes, the impression of elegance is never blunted, and the cascade of red fruit and sweet-savory spice that lingers at the end grows ever more lovely with airing. Those with cellars can fully expect this already beautiful bottling to grow ever more so over the next five years. 475 cases produced.
From one of the region's most dramatically perched vineyards, this bottling shows baked red cherry, thyme, chipped slate and the slightest touch of game on the nose. Tangy acidity and a grippy texture frame the sip, where cranberry, black loam and wet clay minerality lead into a long sizzling finish Date published 6/1/2017 Matt Kettmann
