KEEVER CABERNET SAUVIGNON "ESTATE", YOUNTVILLE NAPA VALLEY 2014
Antonio Galloni - Vinous
Keever's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is rich, pliant and super-expressive. Sweet red cherry, rose, petal, mint and silky, polished tannins all convey an impression of finesse. The finish is beautifully persistent and subtle. Succulent and finely-knit, the 2014 will drink nicely upon release.
NVWE Notes: This is an expressively “Yountville” Cabernet. The nose is classic to the appellation, as scents of sour red cherry, black cherry, red plum jam, red currant, black raspberry, violet, sage, laurel, sweet tobacco leaf, vanilla toffee and baking spices come forth with almost uniform intensity. On the palate, the tannins are polished if also clearly noticeable, yet the rush of flavor never yields center stage, and its sweet nature carries through a very long dinner-worthy finish, where the bright red-dominated fruit is caressed by layers of sweet tobacco, milk chocolate, baking spices and dried herbs. Gorgeous now, it will be much better in four years and beyond. 1013 cases made.
Centered on a tight, structured mix of dark berry, currant, licorice and spicy, cedary oak that casts touches of mocha and herb. Intense without being weighty, this is balanced, persistent and well done. Drink now through 2030. 1,013 cases made. Issue Sep 30, 2017
