NVWE Notes: This is a terrific “East of Eden”: even deeper and fuller than its gorgeous 2016 sibling. The aromas are a zesty, densely-packed array of green apple skin, lemon sorbet, white peach pit, toasted meringue, toasted hazelnut, nougat and baking-spice scents. It is as bright if more evolved in the mouth, where chiseled flavors of fresh green apple, pineapple core, gooseberry, lemon, white peach pit, honeysuckle, vanilla and toasted hazelnut are caressed by a creamy texture then given a sharp-edge at the lingering finish by a blast of chalky minerality. If food-worthy and outright delicious already, this beauty probably deserves at least two more years to fully express itself.
