LEWIS PROPRIETARY RED "ALEC'S BLEND", NAPA VALLEY 2014
NVWE Notes: Contrastingly gutsy, creamy, soft-edged and zesty, the nose of this distinctive blend fans-out scents of cherry liqueur, dark plum, dark boysenberry, blueberry cobbler, black peppercorn, sweet tobacco, crushed dry red rose, laurel and star anise. Things prove bigger and juicier on the palate, yet more youthfully stiff and less evolved than the aromas suggest. Tannic grip and zest firm the finish somewhat, so the wine is best served with fatty meats at this point. Three to five years in the cellar will significantly broaden its food matchability and flesh-out the texture. 300 cases made. 60% Syrah, 34% Merlot & 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1200 cases produced.
Rich, focused and powerfully structured, with black cherry and mocha aromas complementing layered flavors of dark plum, mineral and licorice that linger toward firm tannins. Hands off for now. Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2019 through 2026. 1,200 cases made. Issue Web Only - 2017 TF
