LEWIS CABERNET SAUVIGNON "RESERVE", NAPA VALLEY 2014
2014 Lewis Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Reserve 2014
A mix of harmony, finesse, seductive oak and rich fruit adds up to a delightful mouthful of Cabernet, from the initial aromas of creamy, mocha-scented oak to the structured currant, blackberry and licorice flavors. Ends with a return to the oak theme. Drink now through 2030. From California. 1,400 cases made J.L.
NVWE Notes: This is a near-perfect Lewis Reserve: concentrated, focused, optimally ripe, richly oaky, age-worthy and capable of exceptional elegance with time. The nose is a deeply rich melange of blueberry, mulberry, black currant, violet, black fig, cedar, bitter-sweet chocolate, toffee and humidor-spice scents. If deeply fruity, richly oaked, palate-coating and gripping in the mouth, it is also polished and surprisingly dinner-friendly already. The finish is a lingering blast of blueberry, black cherry, black currant, dark plum, black fig, vanilla, graphite, clove, black licorice, toffee, sandalwood and tobacco, that pushes the tannins rearward. Expect five or six years of steady improvement. 1400 cases made.
