LUCIA CHARDONNAY, SOBERANES VINEYARD, SANTA LUCIA HIGHLANDS 2016
NVWE Notes: As in the past, the “Soberanes” bottling is at once rich in slightly tropical fruit, mineral-laced and full of pretty floral and oak-derived accents. The 2016 offers scents of of baked apple, pear liqueur, lemon cream, pineapple core, brioche, toasted grain and white rose, over a gentle background of saline minerality. Palate-coating, yet deftly balanced with citric and mineral accents, the flavors are a lingering mirror of the nose. It finishes juicy-ripe and is ready to enjoy. 190 cases produced.
Bright straw-yellow. A highly complex, mineral-accented bouquet evokes fresh citrus and orchard fruits, toasted brioche and white flowers, and a hint of oyster shell emerges with air. Shows excellent depth and delineation, offering vibrant tangerine, pear, sweet butter and anise flavors that firm up slowly on the back half. Powerful yet graceful in character, displaying superb detail and thrust on a strikingly long finish that features lingering floral and mineral notes. Drink 2020 - 2026. Josh Raynolds Oct 2018
