MARK HEROLD GSM "FLUX", CALIFORNIA 2013
NVWE Notes: This “New World Chateauneuf du Pape”is a complex, pretty, fun to drink dinner wine at a fine price, and its aromas and slightly plump lingering flavors are harmonious and focused. The wine fans-out as a sweet-natured, quietly zesty melange: with raspberry jam, red currant, Kirsch, dried red cherry, red rose, pink peppercorn, date, clove, tobacco, cedar, bay leaf and leather notes all discernible. It is slightly juicy yet nicely food-balanced and is ready to enjoy. A blend of 66% Syrah, 20% Syrah & 14% Mourvedre. 2350 cases produced cases produced.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
The three cuvées of Flux are Grenache-based, with the 2013 Flux adding 9% Syrah and 7% Mourvedre to the mix. This wine shows classic Mediterranean roasted herbs, kirsch liqueur, strawberries and pepper in an exuberantly fruity, luscious, sexy, up-front style. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
Antonio Galloni - Vinous
Mark Herold's 2013 Flux is a tasty Grenache-based red to drink over the next few years. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, spice and tobacco form an attractive fabric in this succulent Rhone blend.
