OJAI GRENACHE JOHN SEBASTIANO VINEYARD STA. RITA HILLS 2013
Tasting like a high-quality Cotes du Rhone, with exceptional purity of fruit, the 2013 Grenache John Sebastiano Vineyard is the best vintage of this cuvee to date. Giving up ripe, rich notes of raspberries, leather, licorice and wild herbs, with a certain Provencal flair, it's medium-bodied, elegant and fresh, with a full, rich texture that keeps it easy-drinking and balanced. This rock-solid effort from Adam and team has terrific aromatics, good texture and loads of character. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years. eRobertParker.com # , #220 (Aug 2015) Drink 2015 - 2020
NVWE Notes: This infectiously tasty Grenache is even finer than it’s delicious 2012 counterpart. The aromas are a rich, surprisingly elegant, impressively focused, fruity-peppery-floral mix of strawberry, red raspberry, red rose, sumac berry, Schezuan and white peppercorn and vanilla cream wafer scents. On the palate, it is sleek in texture, brightly youthful, ultra-long and spectacularly food-worthy, as it’s combination of fruit zest, tannic grip and a pithy plum pit-like note give it the perfect streak of backbone. It should evolve beautifully for more several years, if one can resist opening it each time dinner calls for Prime Rib, a crusted pork roast, Paella or bouillabaisse. 360 cases produced.
