PEAKE RANCH PINOT NOIR, STA. RITA HILLS 2015
The 2015 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) was made from 100% John Sebastiano fruit, so it is an appellation-level wine in name only. Given its origin, it is no surprise that the 2015 packs a serious punch. Black cherry, plum, lavender, spice and menthol infuse a creamy, voluptuous wine built on texture and depth. All the elements come together in a rich, sumptuous Pinot that overdelivers, big time. Drink 2018 - 2025 Antonio Galloni Sep 2017
NVWE Notes: If a hint slow to open, the nose of this very well-priced Pinot offers aromas of sour red cherry, dark boysenberry, blood orange, pomegranate, Santa Rosa plum, dark red rose, mulling-spice and pink peppercorn. It is immediately forthcoming on the palate, with sour red cherry, Italian Maraschino cherry, pomegranate, cherry pit, blood orange, mulling-spice, sumac berry, coriander seed, ginger snap and nut husk flavors pouring forth. The finish is long and attractively piquant yet soft-edged and truly dinner-worthy. Expect twelve to twenty-four months of further growth, but feel free to drink it sooner without guilt. 536 cases produced.
