SCIANDRI FAMILY CABERNET SAUVIGNON, COOMBSVILLE NAPA VALLEY 2008
NVWE Notes - March 2014: The nose of this terrific Cab delivers a juicy, complex and harmonious marriage of cherry jam, dried cranberry and pomegranate syrup fruit scents, backed by toasty vanilla, baking spice and a hint of sweet tobacco. Things are even richer and prettier on the palate, where sweet raspberry jam, cherry, pomegranate syrup, vanilla and tobacco flavors gain depth from hints of cinnamon red hots and dark earth. It is sleek in body, focused in fruit, lingering and quite dry: a combination that keeps it beautifully dinner-worthy. 375 cases produced.
NVWE Notes - July 2017: Juicy-rich, intensely ripe, yet still vividly fresh, the nose of this focused beauty layers scents of Cassis, pomegranate syrup, sour dark cherry, blueberry, violet, clove, Victorian toffee and humidor-spice in a forth-coming and expansive perfume. It is absolutely delicious in the mouth, where it has fleshed-out and lost all trace of it’s early leanness, yet there is brightness to the mid-palate to elevate the chiseled sour cherry, cherry pit, pomegranate syrup, blueberry compote, black fig, black licorice, star anise and toffee flavors that surge from the glass. The finish is beautifully food-balanced despite all the flash that precedes it, and although there is still room for further evolution, this one provides decadent pleasure right now.
