TROMBETTA CHARDONNAY, FOUR BROTHERS VINEYARD, SONOMA MOUNTAIN 2016
The 2016 Chardonnay Four Brothers Vineyard opens with enticing notes of honey-drizzled apricots, orange blossoms and apple pie with nuances of beeswax, marzipan and popcorn with a waft of allspice. Medium-bodied, the palate is wonderfully elegant with great intensity, lifted by a lively backbone and finishing with lingering toast and spice layers.
NVWE Notes: This opulent wine has a deep, classically “Sonoma Mountain” nose, with scents of dried apple and peach, apple skin, peach pit, brioche, vanilla custard, hazelnut nougat and a suggestion of white pepper. It is plush in texture and notably ripe on the mid-palate, where a streak of hard minerality brings firmness to forthcoming flavors of ripe peach, baked apple, lemon peel, white pepper, vanilla and nougat. The finish is long and palate-coating, and rich enough for service with heavily sauced fish, fowl or veal entrees. It is ready to enjoy. 220 cases produced.
