This wine proves complex and distinctive in character from the moment the cork is pulled. The opening aromas are a seductive melange of bottled Italian Amarena cherry, red plum galette, mulling spice, fruit cake, nutmeg and mineral scents. These elements receive further depth from flavors of dry black cherry and iron ore on the palate, where the tannins are subdued by fruit, while mineral notes work to firm , focus and bring dryness to the wine’s impression of opulence. The wine is already beautifully balanced for food service and the finish is extremely long and never less than complex, so it gives great pleasure despite being four years or more from its true mature expression.
