Rich and well endowed with Howell Mountain personality, this wine offers aromas of dark cherry, cassis, sweet tobacco, cedar and baking spice, along with suggestions of eucalyptus, dry sage, laurel, graphite and iron ore. That same fruit and spice mix is deftly layered on the palate and the fruitiness dominates the wines otherwise impressive tannic grip and minerality. The finish is generous and long and this already attractive dinner wine is likely to yet improve over the next three or four years.
