This is textbook Gap's Pinot Noir and it’s gorgeous from the moment the cork is pulled. Blueberry and whortleberry dominate the nose, with cranberry sauce and orange zest joining background savory notes of hazelnut nougat, mace and baking spice. On the palate, blueberry, cranberry sauce and orange zest are counterpointed by strong mineral notes and suggestions of hazelnut husk and coffee nips. It is texturally sleek and seductive on both the mid-palate and through a very long, generous finish. Terrific now and likely much more so next year, it possesses the tannins and fruit intensity to suggest positive growth for another two years after that. As for service right now, it provides memorable pleasure as soon as the cork is pulled. 338 cases produced.
