Chardonnay from the Durell Vineyard is famously among our State’s most mineral influenced and this especially generous vintage provides no exception. The nose is a plush, forthcoming medley of baked apple, white peach and crushed rock mineral notes with developing accents of mango and white rose, poised above rich baking spice and vanilla undercurrents. It is textbook Durell in the mouth, where plump fruit and oak laden creaminess is counterpointed by big-scale mineral impressions. The wine is delicious already, as the balance of zesty minerality and luxurious fruit and oak is seductively satisfying and food-worthy, although this bottling is certainly at least two years from its full expression. 145 cases produced.
