Elegantly structured and firm in texture, this is clearly a dinner-style Zinfandel. The aromas are a medley of dark cherry, red plum compote, peppercorn, dark earth, clove and baking spice scents laid-out as a slightly tense medley. Zest and a bit of tannin add to the suggestion of youthful firmness on the palate, where its long-lingering flavors of bright red fruits are counterpointed by savory notes suggestive of dark earth and graphite. Tasty now, it should grow in dimension and dinner-worthiness over the next eighteen months. It will drink very well right now with tomato-sauced entrees, steaks, rich stews and barbecued meats.
