Very much an old fashioned Napa mountain Cabernet, this is a bold, flavor-packed bottling with an even grander future ahead. The aromas are a heady medley of black cherry, red current jam, black raspberry, cedar, briar and baking spice scents poised above firming mineral notes. It is fleshy in fruit and muscular in structure on the palate, where tannic grip, zest and fruit concentration combine to bring a coiled effect to flavors that deftly mirror the nose. The finish is gutsy and long and despite its current charms, it is likely five years or more from truly revealing everything it has to show.
