2023 Argot, Sage Ridge Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Decanter Magazine 97 Points
From Sage Ridge Vineyard, a west-facing, barren ridgetop site in the Vaca Range at 457m elevation east of Pritchard Hill, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon underwent a seven-day cold soak, followed by native fermentation and 15 days on skins, before ageing for 22 months in approximately 100% new French oak. Never racked, it was bottled unfined and unfiltered. True to its origin, the wine opens with a pronounced sagebrush character layered with tobacco and refined cedarwood. Dark, inky black fruit shows impressive purity, unfolding across a medium- to full-bodied palate shaped by ripe, precise, finely detailed tannins with a subtle saline edge. The finish is long and mineral-driven, marked by lingering wet stone and understated dark cocoa nuance. Drinking Window: 2026 - 2040 Jonathan Cristaldi 17 Mar 2026
